									    Ephesians 2:8-9
Is salvation by grace only?
“We cannot do anything to
be saved” - [men]

                              1
8. For by grace are ye saved
through faith; and that not
of yourselves: it is the gift of
God:
9 Not of works, lest any
man should boast.
 I. Grace

Goodwill, loving kindness
Unmerited favor
Mercy

The grace of God is his free
and everlasting love and favor
                             3
“Wherefore, as by one man
sin entered into the world,
and death by sin; and so
death passed upon all men,
for that all have sinned:”
 Foundation for Redemption 4
God’s part of SALVATION is
           Grace

Incarnation – Jn. 1:1,14
Death – Heb. 2:9
Burial – Jn. 19:38,39
Resurrection – Acts 1:3
Coronation 5
II. Are Ye Saved

Salvation is subject
Salvation is gift of God
 ability to believe = mind
 things to believe = Christ
  testimony = Bible
                                6
“For the grace of God that
bringeth salvation hath
appeared to all men,”

                             7
8. For by grace are ye saved
through faith; and that not
of yourselves: it is the gift of
God:
9 Not of works, lest any
man should boast.
                              8
    III. Through Faith

Man’s Part
 Accept salvation
 Rom. 5:1-2 “justified by faith”

Salvation is provided by God’s
grace and received by man’s
faith. 9
James 2:17
James 2:24-26
  “not by faith only”
  “faith without works is
  dead also”

                            10
IV. Not of Yourselves
Salvation is not of man
Man is not free to do what he
wishes in religion
Salvation is not in ourselves
 Pro. 16:25
 Matt. 7:21-23 11
V. It is the Gift of God

Gift – given to another
Is salvation unconditional ?
Takes two to perfect a gift !
 One will offer
 Another will accept
                                12
  VI. Not of Works

Not earned
Titus 3:4-5 “not by works of
righteousness which we
have done, but according to
His mercy he saved us”

                               13
Man must do something
We obey God’s commands
   B.R.C.B.=S
Salvation is still by Grace
                              14
      VII. Lest Any man
         Should Boast

Glory – claim that God owes
If God owed – not a gift
If not a gift – Christ not needed
The grace of God keeps us
 from boasting. 15
“For the grace of God
that bringeth salvation hath
appeared to all men,”
Teaching us that, denying
ungodliness and worldly lusts,
we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly, in this
present world; 16
    Ephesians 2:8-9
Will you accept the Gift of
God’s Grace through faith?

                              17

34. Then Peter opened his
mouth, and said, Of a truth I
perceive that God is no
respecter of persons:
35. But in every nation he that
feareth him, and worketh
righteousness, is accepted with
him.
8. For by grace are ye saved
through faith; and that not
of yourselves: it is the gift of
God:
9 Not of works, lest any
man should boast.
