This letter will serve as a contract between _____________________________ (Author)
and Marianne Dyson for services and deliverables specified below.
MANUSCRIPT AUTHOR INFORMATION:
DESCRIPTION OF CONSULTING SERVICE:
Consultant will provide both proof reading (that includes checking for typos, grammar
usage, and proper manuscript format) and critique of manuscript of about ____ pages (up
to 250 words/page) for a minimum price of $___.00 and a price not to exceed $ ________.
Charges are $60/hour for editing and critique with a minimum of $25/manuscript.
Consultant will provide an estimated maximum charge and guarantee not to exceed this
amount. If hardcopy and SASE (or arrangements for pickup) are not provided, author will
be charged $10 for printing and shipping. Half the total estimated payment is due on
manuscript receipt, and half on return of manuscript to author. Make check payable to
Consultant will return the manuscript with comments within 4 weeks of receipt. If the
consultant has only completed part of the work by that time, the author may request the
manuscript returned and not owe the final payment. If the consultant is not able to do the
work because of events outside her control such as a hurricane or medical emergency, the
author may request the manuscript and first payment returned or grant an extension. If the
author’s first payment is not received by the end of the 4 weeks, the consultant may hold it
until payment is made.
Consultant accepts no liability for the author’s use of copyrighted materials without
permission of the copyright holder. Comments by the consultant incorporated into the work
by the author become the words of the author for copyright purposes.
