Rob Watson, Chairman, CEO, and Chief Scientist of EcoTech International (ETI). The “Founding Father of LEED,” Watson is an international leader in the green building movement. Author Tom Friedman calls Rob "one of the best environmental minds in America." A Senior Scientist with the Natural Resources Defense Council for 21 years, Rob founded ETI in 2007 to address global demand for green building technologies and services. Watson also currently serves as Executive Editor of GreenerBuildings.com. Watson is a former Director of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the national non-profit organization that manages the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standard. Under Rob’s direction, LEED became the largest and fastest-growing international standard by which green buildings are measured. Among numerous international awards for his work, Watson is the only foreigner honored for Green Building Innovation by the Chinese Ministry of Construction and received the first lifetime achievement award from the U.S. Green Building Council. Mr. Watson received his MBA from Columbia University and has a Masters of Science from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. from Dartmouth College where he was a Senior Fellow. He is married to Green Schools Alliance Founder Margaret Howard Watson and has an 11-year-old son, Max.
