Executive Board Meeting

Absent: Luneda Brown, Diane Mixon
I. Welcome by Judy Malachowski, President, and the meeting was called to order.
II. Approval of minutes from April 7. The minutes were approved with minor corrections.
III. General and Project Reports of Officers:
President – J.M. Malachowski
Summer report mailed to GNA – A copy of the president's report is attached.
A news release concerning Nurse Week from Debbie Hatmaker has been sent to Wes
Sumner, for publication.
2nd Vice President – Luneda Brown – President Malachowski has been unable to contact, so
knows nothing about plans for the Annual meeting.
In the absence of Luneda, plans for our Annual Meeting must be made. Judy Malachowski
will confirm the date of May 5 with state President Myra Carmon. Bonnie and Monica will
investigate the Windsor as a possible location. Nancy will send out notices to members
and retired nurses as soon as the location is determined.
Secretary – Nancy Morris –
Newsletter – No further report.
Treasurer – Diane Mixon. – Our balance of funds on hand is $1482.83. In view of this
balance, D. Mixon moved, and S. Daniel seconded a motion that 12th District pay for
registration to convention for delegates and for 2 nights lodging.
Director – Sandra Daniels – No report.
Director – Bonnie Simmons – No Report
IV. Planning/projects for 2002-2003
Activities with GSWANS – Officers and members of GSWANS will be invited to attend the 12th
District Annual meeting on May 5. Officer's meals will be funded by GSWANS.
Membership – We have purchased a read-only database of all 89,000 RN's, and will plan a
mailout to all who have addresses with zip codes in our district in the near future.
Nurse of the Year –Bonnie Simmons and Nancy Morris
Debbie Lawhorn, our candidate for Nurse of the Year and her sponsor, Tom Cronemeyer,
attended the Nurse of the Year Banquet in Atlanta on April 26. Unfortunately, no board
member was able to accompany them. Debbie and Tom will also be recognized at the 12th
District Annual Meeting.
Twelfth District award to a graduate – The two students (one generic and one RN/BSN) with the
highest grade point averages will receive the Twelfth District Award for Academic
Excellence. These awards will be presented at the graduation breakfast. Diane Mixon will
