Miramichi Regional Hospital Foundation

							                         “OPHTHALMOLOGY IN-SIGHT CAMPAIGN”

The Miramichi Regional Hospital Foundation is pleased to share that it has launched a new
Annual Campaign entitled “OPHTHALMOLOGY IN-SIGHT CAMPAIGN” with a goal to raise
$130,000 to purchase an SLT Laser with Argon & Auto Refractor for Ophthalmology. The
state of the art equipment will provide the most up to date diagnostics and treatment of
glaucoma and other eye related conditions.

give us the opportunity of offering the highest quality of care for many ocular pathologies.”

The region is extremely fortunate to have the services of two ophthalmologists, Dr. Vijay
Sharma and Dr. Luis Riveros. Dr. Sharma has the largest number of glaucoma patients of any
ophthalmologist in NB, and Dr. Riveros with his subspecialty in retinal diseases and oncology,
has had patients referred from as far away as Quebec. The Miramichi Hospital Ophthalmology
Department treated approximately 8000 patients last year and the numbers are increasing.

common goal of enhancing local patient care”.
