Relay For Life Branding Checklist
This Branding Checklist is intended to serve as a guide for Relay For Life events to ensure that they are properly branded and easily
recognizable as an American Cancer Society Relay For Life event. These are just recommended branding pieces and many of the materials
can be shared and re-used by multiple events.
Item Description Placement
RFL Banner “It’s about being a Community” Entrance to the event facility.
RFL Branded Event/Stage Wrap Wrap bottom of stage, use on fencing around grandstand, poles, trash
canisters, large tent weights, etc.
RFL Track Banner “There is no finish line” Erect at start/finish line.
RFL Track Sign Set Space signs around track to provide cancer information for participants.
RFL Survivor Banner Have survivors carry this banner during the survivor lap. Can be
hung at the survivor reception areas before and after opening ceremonies.
ACS RFL Accomplishment Banners Part of the Celebrating 25 Years of HOPE Branding kits received in 2009.
Use these five banners around the track to highlight ACS accomplishments
in advocacy, patient support, education, research through Relay For Life.
RFL CRFB Generic Banner Part of the Celebrating 25 Years of HOPE Branding kits received in
2009. Use around track to highlight the message of CRFB.
RFL Commemorative Stage Luminiaria Part of the Celebrating 25 Years of HOPE Branding kits received in 2009.
Use on stage during the Luminiaria Ceremony to create an impactful
display. (Set of 4)
RFL Community Accomplishment Banner W/ Pocket Completes the Celebrating 25 Years of HOPE Branding kits received in
2009. Use to detail accomplishments of your local event.
RFL CRFB Hand Held Flags Order appropriate quantity to represent cancer burden in your
community.
RFL Caregiver Banner Have caregivers carry this banner during the Caregiver Lap. Hang before
and after opening ceremonies.
RFL Banner “A team event to fight cancer” Hang on fencing or other high traffic areas.
RFL CRFB “I Can Fight Back By” Banner Have participants sign the FB banner and then display it in a prominent
area.
RFL CRFB “I Pledge to Fight Back” Stickers When participants sign the banner, they can affix these to their clothing.
RFL CRFB Balloons Use balloons at ceremonies and to decorate at your event.
RFL/ACS Balloons Use for balloon arches and to create a festive atmosphere.

RFL First Time Relayer Sticker Use to welcome new Relay participant to the event.
Additional things to consider for a Quality Event experience:
Ensure parking is easy, organized and flows smoothly. This is the first impression many people will have of your event.
If parking lots are not close to the Relay venue, arrange for golf carts or vans to shuttle people from point A to point B.
Make sure that your parking lots are well-lit and monitored by security or police for safety reasons.
Make sure the atmosphere walking into the event is welcoming and inviting.
Place clearly marked visible signage on the main road leading to event parking.
In addition to signage, have greeters stationed in parking lots and at event entrances to welcome participants and provide additional
direction.
Provide information or maps of your venue, especially if it’s not clear on how to navigate around the event. If you don’t have maps
to hand out, make sure that you have one posted at a central or high-traffic location.
Provide an event schedule or program. If you don’t have these to hand out, make sure that you have them posted at a central or
high-traffic location.
Make sure registration and/or information tables/tents are visible and well-marked.
Ensure that participants understand what to do or where to go and when, especially survivors and caregivers participating in on-site
activities.
Utilize fundraising club signs on-site at qualifying team’s campsites.
Keep the facilities clean during the course of the event. Check restrooms frequently and empty trash receptacles throughout the
site when full.
Make sure that there is food and drink available for donation.
Ensure that there are activities, games and entertainment going on throughout the course of your event for all age groups. When
possible, live bands and performances are great.
Make sure that your sound system is in proper working order and can be heard clear around the entire facility.
