To calculate if two estimates are statistically significant
Required: The two estimates
The margin of error (MOE) for each of the two estimates
Both of these items can be found in the Census Bureau's American Community Survey data tables.
To use "Calculate" worksheet"
1. Place the estimates into cells B3 and B4 in the Calculate worksheet.
2. Place the corresponding MOEs into cells B6 and B7 in the Calculate worksheet.
It does not matter which estimate is first or second. However, must make sure that the margin of errors
are in the same order as the estimates (I.e. the first margin of error is for what you enter as the first estimate).
The answer is in cell B20.
