A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Kelly
Burba of Valley Station, Kentucky.
With heartfelt sorrow we pay homage and tribute to the memory of Kelly Burba.
WHEREAS, on Sunday, the 25th of May, 1997, Kelly Burba was prematurely taken
from us in a fatal watercraft accident at the age of 17, and crossed that final bourne from
which no traveler returns; and
WHEREAS, Kelly Burba attended Valley High School where she was an
outstanding student and a member of the school's volleyball, basketball, and softball
teams, the DARE program, the yearbook staff, and the French Club; and
WHEREAS, Kelly Burba's death has devastated her family, friends, and teammates
who have gathered together to share their grief, and to create a collage of photographs,
commemorating her experiences and accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Kelly Burba was the adored daughter of Candace and Rocky Burba;
WHEREAS, the passing of Kelly Burba has left a void that will be difficult to fill,
and she is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of
Section 1. Section 1. The members of this august body do hereby express their
utter sense of bereavement and loss upon the death of Kelly Burba and commend her
family and friends to the solace of the Almighty during these dark and painful hours.
Section 2. When the Senate of the Commonwealth of Kentucky adjourns this day,
it does so in loving memory and honor of Kelly Burba.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit copies of this Resolution
to Candace Burba and Rocky Burba, 11815 Pierce Way, Louisville, Kentucky 402772.
