Printing the Lecture Outlines
The course outline is in PowerPoint. The computer you are working from must
have this program to print the outline.
PowerPoint is available on all the PC’s in the computer clusters around campus. If
you want to download the outline on your home machine the PowerPoint program
comes as part of the IU software set available to you for $5.00 at University
bookstores. Be careful, some of the files are very large! As an aside, your Tech
fees go to support the computer clusters, use them if you can.
You will also need to use the staff at the computer clusters if you use a Mac. I
know nothing about them.
Once you have established that you have the correct software, go to the course
Double click on an underlined set of notes.
When you click on the notes PowerPoint will automatically be opened. If it
doesn’t you will need to ask for assistance.
Once the program opens, go to the top of your screen and click on “File”
One of the options on the pull down menu is “Print”
Click on “Print”
A print menu will be generated; near the center of that menu will be the legend
“Print What”. It will usually default to “Slides”.
You need to change “Slides” to “Handouts”. You do this by clicking on the small
arrow just to the right of the word.
Once you set the menu to print “Handouts”, the print program will prompt you to
tell it what kind of handouts you want. The ones I use in class are Handouts –
three slides per page
If you have any difficulty please let me know.
