Jack’s Gallery
SUBMISSION FORM
Dear Artist:
Thank-you for your interest in Jack’s Gallery, a shared venture of the Just Us! Wolfville
café and the Acadia Cinema Co-op! It is funded in part by Youth Challenge International, a
non-profit organization that involves youth in community-based projects in developing
countries. Honoring this support, we aim not only to provide a vibrant, shared community
space for local artists to display their work, but also to build, empower and energize the
creativity of young artists to share their personal visions and benefit financially from their
efforts. While we do not refuse consideration of any age group, if you are a young artist (aged
15-35) interested in actively participating and contributing to the local and global community,
you are exactly who we are looking for!
We welcome submissions in all mediums. You may submit up to 6 pieces, while
remembering that space is limited and they may not all be exhibited whether you are selected
this time or not. Exhibitions will likely feature a combination of artists and last approximately
two months before changing to a new exhibition. For each new show there will be an Opening
Night to create a sense of shared public space and an ongoing forum for discussion, education,
activism, and visual art appreciation.
Please complete the following form and send it to us via e-mail to propose works for
consideration:

Email address: ________________________________
Eligibility
• Entries must be original, entirely the work of the entrant.
• Entries must not be copied, derivatives, or based on other copyrighted material
Conditions
• Entries will be selected from digital photos of the artworks submitted via e-mail attachment.
Links to the artist’s website are not acceptable as submissions and will not be considered;
artist must send the photos of the specific works they intend to have exhibited.
• Unless artist installs, no work may exceed 50 pounds in weight.
• Artists may not substitute another work for an accepted work, alter the sales price, nor
withdraw the work after it has been accepted.
● Be patient; the selection committee will contact you as soon as your work has been chosen.
Accepted Work
• All work must include the means of hanging, mounting or otherwise displaying. If necessary,
please include instructions. (Due to the type of hanging system we have, it is preferable that
the piece is wired tautly in the back, with the wire no higher than 2/3 of the piece’s height
measurement from the bottom. Please e-mail us concerning questions on having your piece
ready to hang.)
• Artist agrees to allow accepted work to remain with the exhibit until the close of show. Artist
retains all copyright on work.
• Artist agrees to pay for shipping with insurance to and from the gallery. The gallery provides
insurance while on display. The item price or Not for Sale Value must be included for insurance
purposes.
• Artist Agrees, upon a sale, to a 20% commission to Jack’s Gallery.
Photography
Jack’s Gallery reserves the right to photograph entries for the purpose of documentation,
education and publicity.
Liability
The artist is responsible for shipping and insurance both ways. We recommend you make
arrangements to insure your work for the full value of the artwork. Please enclose a prepaid
return shipping label(s) when you ship your artwork. Every reasonable precaution will be
taken during the receiving, installation, exhibit and return of work. Work should not be so
fragile that shipment or public display would be potentially harmful to the work or the viewer.
If selected, you will be notified when and where to drop off your artwork, as it will be collected
several days prior to the exhibition.
Please Attach by E-mail:
A brief artist bio
A complete artist statement for each work
A photo and description for each work stating title, date, medium, and size
Item price (Jack’s Gallery will take a 20% commission from this price upon
sale)
A completed and signed consent form (below)
Consent form:
Submission of entries for exhibitions constitutes acceptance of all conditions stated and
provides permission to Jack’s Gallery to photograph or reproduce any work for publicity.
Submission of the entries, whether by internet or in person, shall constitute an agreement on
the part of the Artist to comply with the conditions set forth in this submission form, including
the following:
I hereby release and discharge the officers, employees, and volunteers of Jack’s Gallery from
any and all claims occasioned by damage or loss of said slides(s) or artwork while in the
