The school was opened in 2006 following the amalgamation of separate Infant and Junior
schools in a modern PFI building and is situated within Peartree/Normanton suburb of
Derby. The area is in the top 3% of the most deprived wards in the country. The
Community consists of mainly Asian families with many new emigrants from Eastern
Europe. English is the second language for 91 percent of our pupils.
Hardwick Primary offers an outstanding modern learning environment for children to
develop in, with excellent ICT facilities in every classroom.
There are currently 572 children on role divided between 3 Foundation Stage classes, 4
Infant classes and 12 Junior classes. The school has a staffing structure of a Headteacher,
27 teaching staff (including Deputy Headteacher, 2 Assistant Headteachers and 1 TLR), 23
teaching assistants, 3 pupil support assistants, 6 office /admin staff (including a School
Business Manager), 13 midday assistants, and 5 kitchen assistants (including Cook
