7th grade English Student Contract
The expectations are that students will:
--come to class prepared
--be responsible for their own work and behavior
--respect themselves, their peers and their instructors
--stay organized and turn in assignments on time
--come in for EXTRA HELP when needed
--keep up with any missing work resulting from absences and be responsible for finding out what
that work is by using the portal and/or the seventh grade English wikispace/website
--stay on top of their homework, which will be given DAILY, whether that be reading,
journaling, vocabulary exercises or writing assignments
o In an event of an illness, obtain the missing assignments by checking the portal and/or
class website: http://middle.usmk12.org/Faculty/Reimer/homework.htm
o In case of extended absences, students and parents please contact me.
o Students have the same number of days they were absent to make up their class
assignments for full credit. Exceptions will be made for extended absences and unusual
circumstances; however, it is always the student’s responsibility to get missing
assignments and handouts and then complete them in a timely fashion.
o Tests and quizzes should be made up as soon as possible by appointment with Ms.
o Late homework is accepted only for reduced credit and needs to be turned in as soon as
possible. If a regular homework assignment is over a week late, it will earn a zero.
o Assignments that are left in lockers will not be considered completed on time. All
students begin each quarter with 50 organization points. Organization points (2 points per
sign-out during the first semester and 3 points per sign out during second semester) will
be lost if a student must sign-out to retrieve necessary supplies or work from his or her
o Also, I reserve the right to make you come in at recess to complete missing work.
o Do not hesitate to ask for extra help. I am available for extra help during recess, before
school, and most days after school.

Writing Assignment Grades:
o Students will be graded on various writing assignments throughout the year, but will
complete multiple drafts and get teacher feedback before being graded.
o Any and all writing assignments may be re-written for a new grade, if the student meets
with me and we discuss what improvements should be made.
o Students will be allowed to re-take ONE quiz per quarter. Their original score will be
averaged with the score on the re-take and that will be their final grade.
o 1 extra credit point will be awarded for every 500 pages that students read in their ORBs,
(not to exceed 5 e.c. points per quarter). Keep a reading log or journal to track book titles,
author names, page totals and a brief description (five sentences minimum) for others
who might like the book. Sign on to Mrs. E’s seventh grade SHELFARI page in order to
add your book title and review and then let me know when it is posted. All books need to
be submitted one week before the end of the quarter, and I will then record your e.c.
o Additional journal entries and vocabulary assignments can be completed for extra credit
in those categories. Please see me for specific requirements.
