XVII-th International Saloon of Defence Industry Kielce 2009
The Military Institute of Armament Technology took part in the XVII-th International Saloon of
Defence Industry held in Kielce on 31 August to 03 September, 2009. There were two
interesting developments presented.
The first was the training & practising system for small arms called ŚNIEŻNIK now presented
in the MINI option. The system was developed in co-operation with the Autocomp Electronic
company and is a smaller option (ca. 3.5 x 8 m) of earlier developments. This enables its
easier deployment in the military barracks to train up to 4 soldiers at different virtual combat
field scenarios. The system has raised a great interest of visitors and among them was the
Chief of the National Security Office, the Chief of Training Department of the Army and the
representatives of the General Staff.
The second one well appreciated by visitors was the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle)
SZOGUN used to imitate the target of assault aircraft at training crews of antiaircraft missile
systems for all types of guiding i.e. optical, radar and thermal. The plane can execute
manoeuvres programmed by the operator and this makes the conditions of training
reproduce the reality in much better degree than previously when the imitators of aerial
targets moved on ballistic trajectories or were towed by a plane. SZOGUN takes off from a
light rail and after completing the mission lands on the parachute.
The SZOGUN was distinguished by DEFENDER award.
Behind the awarded SZOGUN from the left are: Deputy Director of the Military Institute of
Armament Technology (MIAT) Mr Eugeniusz Milewski, D. Sc., Director of MIAT Mr Ryszard
Kostrow, D. Sc., President of Eurotech company Mr Janusz Michalcewicz, M. Sc.
and Vice-president Mr Tomasz Cieśla, M. Sc.
