Academic qualifications
1988 to 1992 - B.A. in Translation (A: Portuguese, C: English and French), attended at
ISLA (Higher Institute of Languages and Administration), in Lisbon.

1992 – Vocational Training Course - Simultaneous Interpretation promoted by BAN, also
supported by the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training and by the European
Social Fund. Course duration: 252 hours. Obtained results: Portuguese A, French C, English
C.

1992/93 - Attended «Instituto Cervantes» course of Spanish, having been granted a
scholarship in a Spanish Summer School, at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Professional Experience
Since May 1992: Freelance translator and conference interpreter for several
translation & interpreting companies in different areas: vocational training in cement
and automotive industries, fisheries, agriculture, economics, business, market
research, management, medicine, education, audits, telecommunications. Final clients
include: national and international organizations (EU, UN, American and British
Embassy in Lisbon) , Foundations (such as the Gulbenkian Foundation, FLAD, Agha
Khan Foundation), utilities companies (board management meetings) among many

Language Combination: Portuguese A, English B, French and Spanish C. Number
of days of interpreting: 2000+.
Member of APIC (Portuguese Association of Conference Interpreters).

November/1997 – July/98:         Freelance interpreter – European Commission, in Brussels.
March/93 - December/93:                  Secretary/translator WEAG (Western European
Programme Group), an international organisation within the area of defence belonging to the
Western European Union. The working language in this Permanent Secretariat is English,
processing classified documentation, giving administrative support and carrying out
secretarial duties at ministerial level conferences and meetings in Portugal and abroad.

March/92 - September/93:            Translator at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in
Lisbon.
