DESCRIPTION OF WORK
          The Adult Education Programs Coordinator is responsible for researching, planning,
          developing, implementing, and evaluating a wide range of public programming for college-
          aged, young adult, adult, and senior audiences including workshops, lectures, symposia,
          seminars, classes, and special events. The Adult Education Programs Coordinator will
          oversee the museum’s internship program, lead outreach and collaborative efforts with area
          colleges and universities, community groups, and lifelong learning organizations and
          programs. The Adult Education Program Coordinator occasionally serves on museum
          exhibit teams, works with museum volunteers and docents, and serves as a liaison with the
          museum’s Development and Community Relations and Curation sections. The Adult
          Education Coordinator Manages also contracts with performers and speakers, writes
          promotional and educational materials, and assists in identifying potential sources of
          program support in the form of grants, sponsorships, and program partnerships.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
         A working knowledge and familiarity with adult education programming, social media,
         educational theory, budgets, and evaluation techniques are required as well as a good
         foundational knowledge of North Carolina and American history. Research skills and
         written and oral presentation skills are essential. Exceptional organizational and
         supervisory skills are needed as well as the ability to develop and maintain good working
         relationships with the public, volunteers, and staff. Must be able to travel, hold a valid
         drivers license, and work some nights and weekends.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
A master’s degree in museum studies, education, history, public history, architectural history, design or specific content
area or field of expertise and one year of experience in museum or related work; or an equivalent combination of training
