JOB DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: Educational Services & Support, Title I Part C
JOB TITLE: School Home Liaison for Migrant Program
(Employment Contract Level 10 Month)
REQUIREMENTS:
A. Education Level: Minimum of an Associate’s degree or 48 post-
secondary semester credit hours.
B. Experience Desired: Experience working with migrant and immigrant
families or organizations.
*Bilingual speaking ability is required.
C. Physical Requirements: Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination and hearing;
intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching,
dialing, filing, fingering, grasping, indexing, inserting,
keyboarding, lifting, driving, and speaking are required.
D. Other Requirements: Must have an ability to acquire a comprehensive
working knowledge of school districts policies as they
relate to state and federal rules and regulations. Must be
able to communicate effectively with, immigrant and
migrant students and their parents. Must have a valid
South Dakota driver’s license and insurance.

REPORTS TO: Under the SD DOE Title I Part C Director and
Assigned designee(s)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Serves as a liaison between the Districts and families relative to identification and recruitment,
attendance, school enrollment, health issues, tardiness, and cultural programs.
Completes all time and effort reports and provides collaborates with Districts staff.
Provides transportation on an emergency basis to students and parents for school attendance and
meeting purposes.
Attends staff meetings, school attendance meetings and other meetings as appropriate to fulfill
identified duties.
Designs and coordinates meetings for recruitment and identification, parent and/or student
information or training opportunities. These efforts will include some night and weekend duties.
Promotes parental involvement in the schools and is the link between the school and home. This
would include parent teacher conferences and other school activities.
Performs other duties that may be assigned by the administration.

Climatic Environment: Work is occasionally conducted in a comfortable environment.
Intermittently subjected to cold below 32 degrees and heat above 100 degrees.
C. Hazards: Occasionally subject to atmospheric conditions of odors, mists, and poor
ventilation and possible exposure to communicable diseases. Travel to various locations in
and outside the assigned limits will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking
conditions.
