Counselors in the addiction field frequently need the help of an ethical decision making
model. The National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC),
American Counseling Association (ACA), and American Psychological Association (APA) all
use unique codes of ethics, but all are tailored from the moral principles of autonomy,
beneficence, non-malfeasance, fidelity, and justice (Capuzzi & Stauffer, 2008). Several decision-
making tools are available and used in the addiction counseling profession. In this paper, I will
