minimum. Responsibilities should be challenging, stimulating, and provide the student the opportunity to make a
contribution to the company.

background. The work responsibilities assigned will push the student to expand his/her technical abilities and
enhance his/her educational development.
Our students are highly motivated in their pursuit of on-the-job experience. Because of this drive, it is important for
you to establish the job requirements and set expectations from the beginning. This structure will ensure a
rewarding experience for both you (the employer) and the student. Insist that the student follow all of the rules
established for regular employees.

SUPERVISION OF AND INTERACTION WITH THE STUDENT:
During the student’s internship/ co-op, the student most frequently interacts with the immediate supervisor. As a
result, the supervisor is in a position to influence the student’s perception of engineering/ technology as a career.

provide encouragement and offer immediate, constructive feedback is integral to the student’s success.
_____ I agree to place the student under the supervision of a qualified manager who will provide him or her

commensurate with his/her ability, experience, and the assigned job responsibilities in accordance with federal
and state laws.
PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY:
In addition to each company having its own set of rules, regulations, and guidelines, it is important to realize that the
school has a set of guidelines that students and employers must adhere to. In order to meet the qualifications of the
program, students must work at least 200 hours over the course of their work session. Students are required to work
a minimum of 15 hours per week for a period of not less than 10 weeks. The minimum GPA requirements must be
established and maintained by the students, specifically 2.3 for an internship position and 2.7 for cooperative
education (all on a 4.0 scale).
