Fundraising Intern - Description Job Title: Fundraising Intern Department Name: Development Location: Memphis, TN Reports To: Brooke Ehrhart ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-South grants wishes to children with life- threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Founded in 1986, the Mid-South Chapter has granted more than 3,200 wishes with the help of dedicated volunteers and donors! SUMMARY The Fundraising Intern will mainly work with the Special Events Coordinator to plan and execute the chapter’s internal and external events. Other responsibilities will include assisting with the follow-up for wishes sponsorships and any other projects the development team has. This is an unpaid internship with a semi-flexible schedule. STATUS Unpaid Intern, Part-Time (15+ hours per week – time commitment may vary according to intern’s arrangement and request) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Making phone calls to donors and vendors for events Helping solicit and organize silent and live auction items Developing flyers, forms and PowerPoint presentations for events Writing post event and wish letters Maintaining files and electronic databases. Other projects within the realm of fundraising KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED Ability to learn quickly and work independently (when needed); Excellent organization, communication, writing and problem solving skills; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects while staying organized; Work well with staff, vendors and wish families; Regular and predictable attendance is a non-negotiable requirement of this internship program; Ability to follow through and handle projects responsibly and keep appropriate staff informed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone. The employee is frequently required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
