West Lafayette, Indiana – The Indiana FFA Organization proudly announced the Emerging Agricultural
Technology Proficiency winners at the 83rd Annual Indiana FFA State Convention held June 18-20 at Purdue
University. This prestigious proficiency award is generously sponsored by Dow AgroSciences.
The top four individuals in this Proficiency area were: State Winner – ______________ from the
______________ FFA Chapter, 2nd place –________________ from the _______________ FFA Chapter, 3rd
place –__________________ from the _____________________ FFA Chapter, and 4th place –
___________________ from the _________________ FFA Chapter.
The Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who through their Supervised Agricultural
Experiences, SAE, have developed specialized skills that can apply toward their future careers. Students can
compete for awards in forty-seven areas covering a broad range of the agricultural industry. Placement
proficiency awards are given to those whose SAE is related to employment, apprenticeships, or internships at an
agribusiness or agriculture-related organization. Entrepreneurship proficiency awards are given to those whose
SAEs are related to ownership of an agribusiness or agriculture-related organization. FFA members develop and
enhance their communications, record keeping, critical and analytical thinking, decision-making, and business
In the Emerging Agricultural Technology Proficiency, students gain experiences in new and emerging
agricultural technologies, including: Agriscience, biotechnology lab research, computers, and other new and
emerging technologies not covered in any of the other existing award categories.
FFA is a national organization that makes a positive difference in the lives of over 540,379 high school students
by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural
education. The National FFA Organization is the largest youth organization in the world developing leaders
through participation in proficiency areas.
