                                              General Purpose Analog ICs have Strong Growth Potential
                                              From 2012 to 2016, general purpose analog ICs are expected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate
                                              (CAGR) of 9%, and application specific analog ICs are expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.8%. GBI Research
                                              expects this growth will continue as a result of increasing demand for data converters and voltage
                                              regulators in a number of new applications. Application specific analog ICs will account for a higher revenue
                                              share than general purpose analog ICs. This is due to the development of custom ICs to meet specific
                                              requirements in the communications, consumer electronics, automotives, computer, industrial and medical
                                              fields. As application areas for general purpose analog ICs increase, general purpose and application specific
                                              analog ICs are expected to contribute an equal revenue share by 2020.
                                              In addition, high speed data converters are being developed to meet the requirements of new applications,
                                              such as Third Generation or Fourth Generation (3G/4G) radio base stations, medical imaging scanners,
                                              advanced test and measurement devices, satellite communications, and radar systems and detectors.
                                              Voltage regulators are also being developed with a number of features, such as low current consumption
                                              and load protection for use in harsh environments.
                                              Analog IC Market Continues to Grow in Asia Pacific (APAC)
                                              The growth of the analog IC market in the APAC region is attributed to high demand for special features in
                                              smartphones, tablets, medical electronic devices and automobiles. It is also attributed to the increasing
                                              number of manufacturing plants in APAC countries such as China, Taiwan and Thailand. The analog IC

                                              Increasing Use of Medical Electronic Devices to Drive the Analog IC Market

                                              devices increases. These devices include digital stethoscopes, handheld ultrasound systems, digital X-ray
                                              systems, continuous glucose or blood pressure monitoring systems and pendants that can detect falls.
