JOB TITLE: Student Assistant (multiple positions)
TIME BASE: Part-Time
SHIFT: Daytime (Varies)
WORK WEEK: Monday-Friday
LOCATION: Sacramento
DUTIES: The Office of the Inspector General is seeking applicants for a student assistant position. Under the
direction of the Systems Software Specialist III (Supervisor), the Student Assistant is responsible for assisting the
technical staff responsible for providing personal computer hardware, application, and database management support.
The Student Assistant will assist the Information Technology Unit with the activities associated with
maintaining various program applications; assist with the ongoing maintenance of personal computers, analysis,
troubleshooting, and security administration tasks. The student will have regular contact with OIG staff statewide.
The Student Assistant will assist the OIG Technical Web Developers in creating and maintaining the Intranet and
Internet web sites including ensure the sites meet established standards, ensure data is accurate and timely and
maintain Email accounts associated with the sites. Experience in using various software applications (i.e., Word,
Excel, Adobe, Visio, PowerPoint, MS-Access) to support and train OIG staff. Adheres to and enforces policies, rules,
and regulations relating to technology use. Maintain IT security documents for OIG users. Provide support
on program applications including: analysis and documentation of implementation issues, work with OIG personnel to
identify interface requirements, create design documents, attend project meetings as required, and create
documentation related to technical implementations, including user guides and training guides. Perform other related
duties as required.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Enthusiastic, mature and self motivated individuals who are currently enrolled
in a college. Individuals must carry a minimum of six units and maintain a 2.0 GPA or better. Applicants, who have
previous technical experience and proficiency with Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Web Design,
will be given strong consideration. Preference will be given to all Information Technology related majors.
