    Duties

               Lead and manage the outdoor horticulture unit including the staff, horticultural maintenance
    1.         operations, records management, purchasing and budget management, landscape planning and
               construction and management of contractors.
    2.           Provide expert advice and foster appreciation of Australian flora, its cultivation, use and management.
                 Provide and organise training for staff in horticultural maintenance and construction, equipment use
    3.
                 and documentation relating to the Living Collection and its management.
                 Take a leading role in horticultural team management and communication activities, including
    4.
                 operational planning, performance management and change management.
                 Actively participate in the development and implementation of wider Gardens programs, including
    5.
                 liaising and collaborating with other units of the ANBG.
                 Participate in ANBG Work Health and Safety, fire management, training management, and minor
    6.
                 capital works projects as required. Conduct hazard and risk assessments as required.
    Selection criteria
    All criteria will be assessed in relation to the candidate’s ability to perform in accordance with:

     Workplace health and safety
                 Demonstrated high level knowledge of the maintenance, landscape use and cultivation requirements
    1.
                 for a diverse range of Australian flora.
                 Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and develop staff, to undertake project planning and to
    2.
                 manage financial and human resources.
                 Demonstrated experience and well developed knowledge of scientific plant collection management,
    3.
                 including the application of scientific data bases.
                 Demonstrated good communication skills including the ability to write technical reports and liaise
    4.
                 with a diverse group of stakeholders.
    5.           Demonstrated ability to plan for and manage change in the workplace.
