Celebrating our 81st Year!!! Dear Friends, This year we celebrate our 81stth year as an association! The CTPA was founded in 1924, on the principles of bringing families together to have fun and to address community issues. As always, we continue to strive to maintain those principles. We are so fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, where we can enjoy the beauty of the beach and waters of Greenwich Bay, and most importantly, the friendship and fellowship that we enjoy together! What is particularly rewarding to me personally is the number of children who continue to join their parents and friends at all of our fun events. To see the excitement of the kids having fun making s’mores around the campfires, enjoying the music, playing horseshoes or just building sand castles on the beach or by the picnic table, is for me, what it’s really all about. Last year was one of the most successful years the Cedar Tree Point Association has ever experienced! I would like to personally thank all of the officers and members who worked so hard together as a team to make this all possible. Last year was our second, now annual, Lobster Clam Bake, and it was a smashing success, with more than 35 in attendance! Thank you one and all for making this such a success! If you missed it last year, don’t let this exciting event pass you by again! Carol Fritz continues to do a wonderful job with the CTPA website, www.cedartreepoint.org , which is filled with interesting information and web link resources. I would also encourage you to email Mike Hoglund, CTPA Treasurer (mrhconsult@cox.net) or visit the site and to click onto Mike Hoglund’s name, under the “Officers of the Association” and send Mike your email address, current telephone and / or cell numbers and mailing address. This will give us the ability to send out information on a moments notice and keep everyone informed as to current events and important community information as it develops. At our annual spring meeting a few weeks ago, representatives of the University of Rhode Island, CRMC and our own Carol Fritz, conducted a slide presentation and discussion of the Special Area Management Plan (SAMP). It was very informative as to the planning that is going into the future of Greenwich Bay. Please see me if you would like a copy of that presentation. Additionally, CTPA along with other Warwick neighborhood associations, was recently invited by the Warwick Police Department to attend an update on the progress of the Sex Offender Community Notification Unit. The fine work and efforts being conducted by the Warwick Police Department to inform community leaders of this work is expanding and succeeding. More information is available at http://www.paroleboard.ri.gov/ . Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions about what was discussed at this meeting. We are pleased to report, that the dues of the Cedar Tree Point Association will continue to remain at $20 per family. The CTPA board has made this decision, to ensure that every family can afford to belong to your wonderful community organization. Please contact Mike Hoglund via the CTPA website or at 401-738-8488 with membership questions or at 22 Ferncliff Avenue, Warwick, RI 02886 for payment of dues. Thank you for supporting your CTPA! As always, I welcome your thoughts, ideas and comments. I can be reached at 401-737-7769 or my email address: ifcndpickering@aol.com. Warmest regards to you all, Dave Pickering President
