Those present: Councillors Lee, Atkin, Lowes, one resident and Jayne Perks.

Minutes of the last meeting the minutes of the previous meeting were approved and signed.
Matters arising
The rent payment from Agreserves has been received.
CCC Highways have reported that the repairs to the railings on the bridge on Church Road
are scheduled for July 2012.
Correspondence
ECDC have approved the planning application 12/00447/FUL for a single storey extension to
the front of 1 Church Farm Close.
ECDC are consulting on the provision of a cinema in Ely. Responses (by August 6th 2012)
can be made online via the District Council’s website or at

The Internal Audit report for 2011-2012 from Gerry Whitfield has been received. See
accounts for payment below. Mr Whitfield has confirmed that the Parish Accounts for 2011-
2012 were totally compliant with the Account and Audit regulations of 2003 and 2011 and will
act as Internal Auditor for the Parish in 2012-2013 if required.
He noted that the rent for the lease of 6.168 acres of Fen Catch water, let to Mr Wallis, of
£550 per annum has remained unchanged for some considerable time and asked the
Council to review the rent charged.
The Parish Councillors discussed this and agreed unanimously to leave the rent at the
existing level and to review the rent on at least an annual basis.
Mr Whitfield also suggested that the Parish Council conduct a risk assessment for all of the
Parish Council owned assets. Councillors agreed that this should be done, at least annually.
The External Audit report from Moore Stephens has been received. See accounts for
payment below.
CCC Highways have notified that they will be undertaking resurfacing works/ carriageway
repairs on the A1123 between Station Road, Haddenham and Twentypence Road, Wilburton
which will result in the closure of the road (between these points) from Saturday 11 August
2012 until Sunday 12 August 2012.
Car parking charges in Ely
The Councillors discussed the request by County Councillor Hunt for the Parish Council’s
views on the introduction of car parking charges in Ely. The Councillor agreed to respond
individually to County Councillor Hunt.
Additional village salt bin
The Councillor discussed this and agreed not to purchase a new additional salt bin.
Wentworth Village Vision
Councillor Atkin declared a personal interest in this item and took no part in the discussion.
The results of the site consultation part of the Village Vision have been received. The draft
Village Vision has also been received and two small housing allocation sites (up to 4 houses
in total) are proposed on land opposite the Old Red Lion on Main Street and land east of 1
Main Street. Councillor Lee and Lowes asked several questions regarding the possibility of
another allocation site being identified (as there was majority respondent support for up to 5
dwellings in the survey) and how infrastructure and community facilities would be funded.
The Clerk will raise these questions with Sarah Ratcliffe at ECDC.

Any Other Business
Concern has again been raised to the Parish Council, by a resident, about parking in Church
Road at the corner with Main Street. The Clerk will contact WPCC and the Village Hall to ask
them to remind all users of the Church/Hall to park considerately following guidance in the
Highway Code.
Councillor Atkin will investigate the ‘pooling’ of water in the bark chipped landing area at the
bottom of the slide in the playpark.
The Clerk will contact Suffolk Acre Services to inform them of the goal post that has been
put up in the grassed are of the playpark.
The meeting closed at 8.30pm.
