Course Description: This course is an opportunity for students, for whom English is not a native language, to learn
employability, life, and academic skills (second language acquisition) according to the ESOL curriculum frameworks of the
state of Florida.

Class Policies:

         1. Attend all classes, be on time, and be ready to begin work.

         2. Please show respect to other students and the instructor.

         3. Do not cause any disruption in class.

         4. Please turn off your cell phone.

         5. No eating or drinking in the classroom.

         6. Speak only English in the classroom.


Attendance Policies: A student may be withdrawn from the program if he or she is absent from more than six (6)
classes in the intensive program and more than three (3) classes in the non-intensive program. There are NO excused
absences.

Grading Policies: Students must receive an average of 70% or higher in their class work and pass the CASAS exit test
at the end of the term to go to the next level.

*CASAS Exit Testing: Students should plan to be present throughout the term and especially during the following
dates:
     CASAS Reading for Oral Screeners (Foundations Students): September 24 – 28, 2012
     CASAS Round One Listening for Intensive ESOL Students (All Levels) and Oral Screeners
       (Foundations): October 8 – 12, 2012
     CASAS Listening for Round-Two Students (All Levels), Non-Intensives (All Levels), and Oral Screeners
       (Foundations): November 26 – December 7, 2012
     CASAS Reading (All ESOL Students/All Levels): November 26 – December 7, 2012
