Technical, Community College, College, & University:
       Students filling out post-secondary applications will need to request their electronic transcripts through
  www.docufide.com / www.parchment.com Students should have accounts set up and ready to go. If there is a
  charge to send the transcript, visit or contact Mr. Rischling to help with the process. Students will need to have
   their ACT of SAT scores sent to the post-secondary institutions. The scores must come from the companies.

University of Nebraska at Lincoln has sent information regarding their Red Letter Days & Open Houses. These are all-day programs designed
for students to learn more about the University firsthand. Students can register one week in advance, online at www.unl.edu or 800-742-8800
ext 4887. They also have red letter days/open houses for specific majors.

The University of Nebraska Omaha will be sponsoring campus tour starting Sept. 12. The tours run Monday through Friday, at 8:30 am and
12:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required by calling 554-MAV1, or on their web-site at www.BEaMAV.com and click “Visit UNO”.

The University of Nebraska Kearney will hold Loper Preview Days on Oct. 8, & Nov 15. Register at www.unk.edu/loperpreviewday

The University of Kansas will host senior days on Sept. 19, 26, Oct. 10, 17, 31, Nov. 11, & 18. Go to www.admissions.ku.edu for more
information.

Wayne State College will have open houses on Sept 30, Oct 14, 21 , 28, Nov. 11, 18, & Dec. 9 and have a junior open house on Nov 5. Call 1-
866-wsc-cats for more information. Wayne State has also sent information about their RHOP program. This program allows students to attend
WSC for their pre-professional classes and then get automatically accepted into the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Applications for this

Iowa State University has open houses on Oct. 10, 21, 24, 29 and Nov 4 & 11. Contact the admissions office at 800-262-3810 or

Southeast Community College is hosting an All-campus open house on Sun. Nov. 6, from 9 – 4. They have campuses in Beatrice, Lincoln, &

Announcements:
Seniors & Juniors, planning on attending a four-year college must take either the ACT or the SAT. Seniors should take the test in the fall and
winter and the juniors should take the test in the spring. The ACT is used more by schools in the Midwest region of the country, while the SAT is
used more by schools along the coastal regions. Schools use the scores to determine admission acceptance and for scholarship criteria.
Students are able to take the tests as many times as they are given. Review materials may be found in the guidance office or on the Internet.

Student’s entering a two-year school will take a placement test administered by the college. This test will place the students in the appropriate
classes in their program. Any student with a high-school diploma is eligible to attend a two-year school/community college.

On Wednesday, October 12, 2011, the juniors will have the option of taking the “PSAT”. The cost for the PSAT is $14.00. This test is used to
give four-year college bound students a practice test on material similar to the SAT assessment and in determining National Merit Scholarship
winners. Juniors who do not take the PSAT will take the ASVAB test.

The guidance office has received the Common Application forms for a number of private universities. The Common App allows students to use
a generic form to apply to some of the most prestigious universities in the country. Students may also find the form at www.commonapp.org
Schools included: Yale, Boston Univ., Harvard, and Creighton.

The Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP) is a tuition reduction program for students to attend colleges/universities out of state. Over
140 schools in Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, & Wisconsin participate. Go to MSEP to find out more
information.

On Tuesday, November 8, 2011 the 10th grade students will take the PLAN test and on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 the 8th grade students
will take the EXPLORE test.

Creighton University will be hosting a ACT test prep course this fall. An orientation meeting will be held on Sun. Sept. 18 from 3:00-4:30 p.m.
and then the classes will be held the following Saturday & Sundays for 4 weeks from 1:00-5:00 p.m. The cost is $430 and the classes are held

Scholarships:
The American Legion & Legion Auxiliary has sent information about a number of scholarships they offer. Go to www.nebraskalegionaux.net too
find more information. The Legion sponsors a state oratorical contest with the winners being awarded various scholarships. The date of the
contest is Sun. Nov. 13th. See Mr. Rischling if you are interested.

The Hearst Foundations Scholarship Program allows juniors & seniors the opportunity to spend a week in Washington D.C. learning about our
government. Students must first take a test on government to see if they qualify. See Mr. Rischling by October 1 st if interested.

Hy-Vee is offering scholarships to High School seniors who work for Hy-Vee or have parents that work for Hy-Vee. Application forms are
available in the guidance office or may be found at www.hy-vee.com under company info. The deadline is Feb. 10, 2012. The state Grocer’s
association web-site may offer other scholarships at www.nebgrocery.com
