To assist the Manager with the day-to-day operations of the Ice Arena and activity
programming including supervising, directing and managing all programs and services that the
Ice Arena provides.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the daily operation of the Ice Arena; supervise staff; assist in development and
implementation of goals, strategies, policies and procedures.
Assist to develop and initiate marketing programs, etc., to utilize all available scheduling time
in the two-rink arena.
Oversee, manage and supervise the facility when scheduled.
Develop and initiate new programming ideas and pilot programs for the Ice Arena.
Maintain Ice Arena public relations and patron satisfaction.
Direct the various Ice Arena activities and programs.
Hire, train, develop and supervise all Ice Arena employees including full-time employees,
graduate assistants and student employees.
Identify market and promote Ice Arena programs and services to campus, community, regional
and state audiences.
Serve on various department, division and university committees when requested.
Perform related duties as assigned.
REPORTS TO: Manager, Ice Arena
LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION:
Leadership of a complex operation and direct supervision over classified and administrative
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, Communications,
Recreation, or relevant field and one year of experience in an ice arena or multi-purpose
recreation facility; or five years of experience working with Ice Arena programming.
Assistant Manager, Ice Arena
USA Hockey Coaching certification, prior hockey coaching and/or playing experience at
college or Junior A level.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skating or hockey skills and knowledge of related programming.
Strong communication, organization and management skills
Ability to provide leadership and direction.
Ability to analyze situations and develop effective solutions.
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force
frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Typically requires sitting,
walking, standing, bending, keying, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and campus to campus
