NHS EDUCATION FOR SCOTLAND
PERSON SPECIFICATION
APPLICATION TO ENTER SPECIALTY TRAINING at ST2 IN OTOLARYNGOLOGY
NOTES:
1. Essential criteria are the minimum requirements for appointment. They may also be scored depending on the level
at which the applicant satisfies each criterion.
2. Candidates who do not satisfy all essential qualification and eligibility requirements will not be short listed.
3. Desirable criteria are those which will confer additional advantage to the applicant. Applicants are not required or
expected to have all of the desirable criteria, but in competitive specialties, applicants who only possess essential
requirements are unlikely to be successful.
4. Only those criteria which can be validated and derived from the application form will be scored for short listing.
5. The number of candidates who are short listed for further assessment at the Selection Centre will depend on the
number of vacancies to be filled and NOT on a specific score.
6. Performance against ALL essential and desirable criteria (including personal attributes) will be assessed and
scored at the Selection Centre (including structured interview and skills stations).
7. Final ranking will be derived from the total sum of the scores achieved from application form (20%), structured
interview (60%), Skills Stations (20%).
