BAAS: The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences program at Texas A&M University-Commerce
provides a foundation that combines business theory and practice in a flexible environment for the
advancement of education, enhancement of scholarship, and emphasis of service.

OUTCOMES:
Goal 1
Students will be effective communicators.

   Objectives:

       Students will demonstrate proficiency in oral communications by creating and delivering
        knowledgeable, effective, and professional oral presentations.
       Students will demonstrate proficiency in written communications by creating clearly printed
        documents that knowledgeably detail appropriate content and conclusions.
       Students will demonstrate an ability to incorporate global considerations as part of an effective
        communications strategy.
       Students will demonstrate an ability to include ethics as a part of an effective communications
        strategy.

Goal 2
Students will be practical decision makers.

   Objectives:

       Students will demonstrate an ability to identify, discuss, and resolve business issues.
       Students will demonstrate an ability to incorporate global considerations as a part of an
        effective decision making strategy.
       Students will demonstrate an ability to include ethics as a part of an effective decision making
        strategy.

Goal 3
Students will be proficient with a wide range of relevant business-related knowledge and technology.

    Objectives:

       Students will demonstrate a general knowledge of core business skills and an understanding
        of international issues in a business context.
       Students will demonstrate a general knowledge of core business skills and an understanding
        of ethical issues in a business context.
       Students will be knowledgeable about current business-related technologies and their
        appropriate applications.
ASSESSMENTS:
   Student Survey (Nov & Apr for graduating seniors / Apr for 5 yr post-graduates)- Goals 1 & 2
   Course LOM (Projects, Portfolios, Presentations, Exams)- Goals 1-3
   Capstone, BAAS 444- Goals 1-3


LOCATION: All results of surveys, tests, and course assessments will be maintained in the Office of
the Dean.


DISSEMINATION/DISCUSSION:
    Course assessments are evaluated according to a rubric internally by faculty teaching the
     course and externally by the Assessment Committee, which is composed of members across
     each discipline.
    Results of the surveys, field tests, and courses assessments are complied, distributed, and
     discussed with the faculty and dean at annual faculty meetings in the spring and fall.
    Results are also distributed to the VPAA.
