The Arsenal Foundation is a limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 07923266 and registered charity number 1145668 and whose registered office is at Highbury House, 75 Drayton Park, London N5 1BU GRANT MAKING GUIDELINES 1. The Purpose Priority is given to the following areas of need: Education (including academic, social, physical education and skills training); Sports capable of improving health; Medical; Sickness and the relief of suffering; Disability; Poverty; and Individual misfortune. 2. Geographical Area The Foundation's area of benefit is the UK and overseas, with a particular focus on the following local geographic areas: Islington; Camden; Hackney; Barnet; Walthamstow; and Hertsmere. 3. Potential Beneficiaries The following is a non-exhaustive list of potential beneficiaries or groups of beneficiaries: Organisations connected to Arsenal FC; Charity or community projects connected to Arsenal FC; Projects that have been developed by Arsenal FC’s community team; Staff-initiated projects; Supporter-initiated projects; Projects where the Foundation's donation, even though relatively small, will make a difference; Projects where the gesture of support from a charity associated with Arsenal FC can have a greater effect than the money itself; Football-linked campaigns or public bodies; Projects where the person requesting a donation is doing something active to raise money for the cause; Projects where the person is playing a significant and voluntary role in raising money for the charity; Awards to reward success or achievement in areas of endeavour that fall within the objectives of the Foundation; and Where funds are donated to the Foundation for a specific project or purpose and the Foundation acts as a partner and makes an additional contribution. 4. Public Benefit There is an over-riding requirement that all grants contribute to the public benefit. 5. Applicants Applicants are expected to: Demonstrate that they will use the grant to good effect, producing the desired outcome in a cost-effective manner; and Have a prudent level of reserves, sufficient to ensure their future economic viability of the project but not so much that they can themselves finance the work for which they are seeking funding. 6. Size of Grants The size of grants made will be at the discretion of the Trustees on a case by case basis. 7. Processing Applications In relation to each successful application, the Foundation may: Ask applicants for and check experience of doing similar work; Outline expected outcomes of the work to be funded; Require the applicant to produce evidence of financial competence; Require the applicant to summarise its current financial position; and Require the applicant to disclose the names of senior staff and other persons leading implementation of the project funded by the Foundation's grant. 8. Grant Offers The Foundation shall confirm grant offers in writing, providing the following details as a minimum: The amount, purpose and duration of the grant (as applicable); The arrangements for payment; Specific conditions attached (if any); Monitoring and evaluation arrangements (if any); and Details of any circumstances in which the grant might be terminated. 9. Decision-making Procedures Each application for funding: o Below £750 shall require the approval of two Trustees; o Between £750 and £10,000 (inclusive) shall require the approval of at least three Trustees; and o Above £10,000 shall require: (i) the approval of all of the Trustees from time to time; and (ii) except in exceptional or extenuating circumstances, require the recipient of the grant to agree to the Foundation’s standard terms and conditions of grant. The Trustees of the Foundation acknowledge that conflicts of interest may arise in relation to the Trustees' personal interests (including, without limitation, those Trustees who are officers or employees of Arsenal FC) and the Trustees hereby agree that, in such circumstances, they shall adhere strictly to the Conflicts of Interest Policy adopted from time to time by the Foundation. The Foundation will endeavour to respond to applications within 1 calendar month of receipt, subject always to exceptional or extenuating circumstances. 10. Monitoring and Evaluation The Foundation shall endeavour to check the effectiveness of grant funding distributed by it and shall implement appropriate monitoring and evaluation procedures as the Trustees think fit. 11. Dissemination of results The Foundation shall encourage organisations funded by it to disseminate the results of their work and give details of innovative approaches to others.
