     THE PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE (PRC), HOLDS A
     PRELIMINARY MEETING TO EXAMINE MINISTERIAL CONFERENCES
     REPORTS.



     Addis Ababa January 22, 2007- The Permanent Representatives Committee
     (PRC), while at a preliminary meeting held last Saturday January 20, examined
     several items prescribed on the menu of the 13 th ordinary session, within the
     framework of the 8th African Union Summit.

     During the meeting, the African Ambassadors in conformity with the provisions of rule
     9(3) of the internal Rules of the Executive Council Procedure examined the reports of
     the ministerial Conferences organised by the different departments of the African
     Union Commission during the second semester of the year 2006.


     To that effect, six reports have been scrutinised. They are:


        1. The Report of the second Conference of the African Union Ministers of
           Economy and Finance (CAMEF II)
        2. Report of the 17th Session of the African Union Conference of Trade Ministers
           (CAMI)
        3. Report of the 1st meeting of the African Union Ministers in charge of
           Petroleum (Petrol et Gas)
        4. Report of the 11th Session of the Conference of African Ministers of
           Environment (AMCEN 11)
        5. Report of the 2nd Extraordinary Session of the Conference of African Union
           Ministers of Education (COMEDAF II)
        6. Report of the Extraordinary Session of the Conference of African Union
           Ministers of Science and Technology (AMCOST).

The PRC would continue deliberations during their next meeting scheduled for Monday
January 12, 2007. It would be an opportunity for discussing the administrative, financial,
legal, institutional, political, economic, social and cultural matters.
