East Syracuse Parks & Recreation Department 204 N Center Street East Syracuse, New York 13057 315 – 463 - 6714 2010 COED SOFTBALL LEAGUE 1. ROSTERS – Must be in by May 22nd . League openings will be filled on a first come first serve basis. 2. Season will begin on June 6th (subject to change) 3. The league will consist of up to 5 teams. 4. Rosters are limited to 20 players. 5. No roster changes will be made after the fifth scheduled league game. 1. LEAGUE FEES - League registration fee is $100.00 – Must be turned in with roster 2. Softballs, scorebooks are included – bases will be at the field. 3. Each team will pay a $20.00 umpire fee directly to the umpire each week. GENERAL INFORMATION 1. All games will be played at East Syracuse Elementary 2. Games will be played on Sundays at 11:15 , 12:30 pm 3. Winning team must call in score at 463 - 6714 4. Cancellations – Decision to cancel game due to inclement weather will be made before 9:00 am on game day. A Parks & Recreation Employee will contact the captains if games are not being played. 5. If rain begins during game, it is the discretion of the umpire as to whether the game is playable. If game cannot be continued the umpire will call the game. RULES 1. Games are seven innings 2. Ten run rule – At the completion of the fifth inning, if one team is ahead by ten Runs or more the game will be called. 3. Males must bat opposite handed. 4. Each team may position 10 players on field as long as three of the fielders are female. If only two females are present then a maximum of 9 players may take the field. The minimum number of players required to take the field is 8 of which two must be women. Failure to field enough players will result in a forfeit 5. Courtesy runner - Last out but female must run for female and male for a male. 6. Batting order. At least every third batter must be a girl . If only two girls are present the team must take an out every time the third female would be due up to bat. 7. Team may hit up to 12 players as long as you have 1 girl for every 3 batters (4 girls needed to hit 12 players). 8. If a man is walked before a women the women has the choice of hitting or automatically taking first base. 1. Playoffs - Top 4 teams make the Playoffs. In order to be eligible for the playoffs a player must play in 50% of scheduled games. 2. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on School property 3.
