                          TREATMENT ROOM NURSE
                             JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties to include:
Adult immunisations
Advice to Diabetic patients before 1st clinic visit
Assisting with Vascular clinic and Diabetic clinic screening
Assisting with minor surgery, IUCD insertion/removal, Implanon insertion/removal
Blood pressure monitoring following protocol
Blood sugar machine demonstration
Cervical smears
Child immunisations
DMARD Monitoring
Ear Syringing
ECGs
Family Planning – advice, Depo-Provera injections
Flu clinics
Health screening/Health promotion
HVS, Chlamydia swabs
Injections
Leg ulcer dressings
Providing telephone advice to patients when required
Registration Medicals
Removal of sutures, staples
Teaching patients anaphylaxis injections
Travel advice and vaccinations
Urinalysis
Venepuncture
Well person checks
Wound assessment and dressings
Liaising with DN’s, HV’s, Practice Nurses, GP’s
Referrals to D/N’s – weekend cover
Attendance at surgery in Salsburgh working alongside GP or independently if required

Additional:

Ensuring emergency equipment is checked and working, drugs within expiry dates
Stock ordering – stocking up clinic rooms daily
Updating patients records using Vision

Training and Development:

First Aid
Basic Life Support, anaphylaxis
Keeping up to date with current research and therapies through journals, study days etc.

            Nurses to be professional and courteous when treating patients.
           Referrals can be from any practice member or patient themselves.
