Subject Description        This Unit is designed to provide candidates with an

Subject Description        This Unit introduces candidates to some basic issues
                           in economics with a particular emphasis on the

                           markets operate and what can be done when the
                           operation of these markets fail. National Income is

Subject Description        This Unit provides candidates with the knowledge
                           and understanding required to plan and design
                           training programmes at organisational level. It also
                           looks at the continuous professional development of
                           employees. This Unit is primarily intended for
                           candidates who wish to work within the training and
                           development section of an organisation.

Subject Description        This Unit is about applying advanced uses of a
                           presentation package, using a range of multi-media
                           and developing the skills to deliver effective
                           presentations. It would be suitable for candidates
                           involved in preparing/delivering presentations.

Assessment                 On completion of the Unit the candidate should be
                           able to:
                           1. Identify, describe and evaluate a variety of business
                           presentation methods appropriate to different
                           presentation scenarios.
                           2. Select and prepare a screen-based presentation on
                           an agreed topic.
                           3. Deliver a screen-based presentation.

Subject Description   This group award Graded Unit is designed to provide
                      evidence that the candidate has achieved the following aims
                      of the second year of the HND Business:

                        develop and apply a range of vocational knowledge and
                         skills in an integrated manner to the analysis of business
                         situations
                       the wider range of competencies that a student can
                         achieve
                       the depth of understanding of core business issues. The
                         first year of the HND will provide students with a basic
                         understanding of today’s key business issues and
                         problems. The second year of the HND will enable
                         students to consider and revisit these issues from a
                         managerial perspective
                       build on previously acquired transferable skills
                      adopt an innovative and creative approach to their work and
                      be able to respond quickly to the challenges posed by
                      changes in the business environment.
