Objective:
   Students will learn about columns, rows, and cell addresses.

Instructions:
   Read the information about cell addresses and complete the following cell address exercise.


As mentioned in class, a spreadsheet is any report where information is organized in columns and rows.

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program designed for creating numerical reports. It is for this reason
the Excel worksheet is divided into columns and rows.




Notice the column letters at the top of each column, and the numbers on the left of the worksheet,
identifying each row.

A CELL is an intersection of a column and row. Notice the grid (or rectangles) made of cells that
intersect each column and row.

Each cell has a CELL ADDRESS. The address for each cell consists of a column letter and a row
number. A cell that is located in column E, and in row 12, would have a cell address of E12.

The CELL INDICATOR is the current location of the cursor. As text is typed, this is the cell
where the text will appear. Notice the cell with the thick dark border.

In the following diagram notice the location of the cell indicator.




Use the diagram above to identify cell addresses, and answer the following questions.
