Agenda Item: 13
Dyfed Powys Police Authority
Planning, Performance and Scrutiny Committee
15th November 2010
Report of the Chief Executive
Findings of the Member Mystery Shopper Exercise detailing the level of
information available locally of Neighbourhood Policing Teams.
1. Purpose of Report
To consider whether the requirement within the Policing
Pledge action plan for Member Mystery Shopper
exercises should continue.
Members will be aware that the Authority’s Policing Pledge Action Plan contained
the requirement of all Members to complete Mystery Shopper exercises. Two
checklists were drawn up to aid Members to report on the level of information
available locally on Neighbourhood Policing Teams (which was to be completed
by each Member on a bi-annual basis and to be reported to this Committee) and
for feedback to be provided on their attendance at a PACT Meeting (to be
completed annually and reported to Community Engagement and External
Relations (CE & ER) Committee).
Whilst completed checklists on PACT meetings are regularly received by the
Secretariat, to date only 11 completed checklists from the 19 Members required
to undertake the task of surveying their local community on the levels of
information available on NPTs has been received since the action plan was
ratified in November 2009. Findings of these results are appended to the report.
Findings of PACT meetings are routinely reported to CE & ER Committee.
In light of the shift in national focus from the Policing Pledge, Members are asked
to consider whether they deem it appropriate for the requirement for them to
continue to complete the Mystery Shopper exercises should remain.
Should Members decide to discontinue this requirement a recommendation will
be presented to the full Police Authority for ratification.
