LOST & FOUND
LOST: Security turned in a bicycle to the Attendance Office on 10/8. Please come to identify. Be prepared to describe the
lock that accompanied the bicycle.
LOST AND FOUND: The Lost and Found already has ‘found’ sweat shirts, sport shoes and other
miscellaneous items. If you have lost such please stop by the Attendance Office – Room 133.
LOST: Nano IPOD on field last week. See Mr. Edelman (Athletics) to claim.

                                               VOICES AROUND THE WORLD
All those interested in becoming members of the VATW staff as Assistant editors, language, art, and publicity must attend a
general meeting on Wed. Oct 27 in Room 236 at lunch. Please see Dr. Ramsey in Room 238 if you have any questions.

  "Together We Can"__??? REFLECTIONS CONTEST entries are due November 15th, and this year's
 theme is "Together We Can." Any student may participate by submitting an original work of art in one of
 the following categories: musical composition, photography, visual arts, dance choreography, film/video
 production, or literature. Express yourself! Show off your artistic talent! Packets and forms can be found in
  any House on campus or on-line at http://bhhs.bhusd.org or http://www.ptareflections.org/cs/online_entry . Completed
                      entries should be deposited in the specially designated boxes inside each House.
Please come to House C to pick-up your ID card from make-up picture day. Also, if you have never taken a photo for
                  an ID card please come to House C and get your picture taken and receive an ID card!

The SMC representative will be here every Thursday throughout the year between 9:00 and 11:00 am in Room 292.
Do you need a BHHS Parking Permit?????? They are still available……come to House B and pick up
                                      an application!

                     You need to have a BHHS Parking Permit to park on campus.
Juniors: Do you have questions about the SAT? What is the ACT all about and should you be taking it? Should
you be taking the Subject Tests and how many of them? When should you be taking all these tests? To get
your questions answered, come to our evening program on College Admission Testing on Thursday, October
28th at 7:00 pm in the Peters Auditorium. For more information about the program, please visit the Counselors’
Corner on the school website.

  Homecoming Nominations opens Tues. Oct. 26 and closes Thurs. Oct. 28 at noon. Don't forget to nominate your

   AMC is coming. Sign up for this year’s Math Contest. Bring $2 to room S315 during lunch, nutrition or after school by
               November 10th. The contest will be on Wednesday Feb. 23, 2011. CHALLENGE YOURSELF!

     Monday--Homecoming Opening Ceremony at lunch on the front lawn! Band and Cheer.
                          Homecoming Nominees will be announced!
Tuesday--Spirit Assembly per 4A/B and Nominee/Faculty Dodgeball Event on the front lawn at
lunch! In-in-Out will be sold.
     Wednesday--Normapalooza extended lunch on the front lawn! Lots of food and fun!
Thursday-- Powderpuff at lunch on the front lawn! See the cheerleaders play football and
the football players cheer!
      Friday--Tailgate for the Homecoming Game at 5:00pm at the Swim Gym Parking Lot!
Fantastic food (we have 3 food trucks coming) and music to get pumped up for the BIG game!
                        Halftime show and Homecoming Court Results!
Saturday-Homecoming Dance at High Profile Productions from 8-11.

Community Service
Community Service Project: The project is to gather data and compile a comprehensive listing of retail businesses
(food, clothing, electronics, etc.) that hire under the age of 18. Retail businesses have indicated that they will be hiring
more employees this year for the upcoming holiday season. This listing will greatly assists BHHS students that will be
looking for employment with a local retailer. Must be at least 16 years old. See Mr. Hayne (Rm. 221) for details.


Seniors ONLY!!!
        SENIORS Please schedule your Senior Portraits Now!! Students and parents should go to whites-
 studios.com/beverly to make your appointment. You will be directed to available dates on campus in Oct. These dates
          will guarantee them a spot in the yearbook without the need to come to their North Hollywood Studio.
  Please make sure that your email address is correct in Naviance. This is the main method by which
 your counselors will be communicating with you during your college application process. Questions?
                                    See your counselor for help.

Please be aware that we have SCHOOL-WIDE DEADLINE DATES for requesting letters of
recommendation from TEACHERS & COUNSELORS: If you are applying early, you must request a letter
by Friday, October 8th. If you are applying regular decision, you must request a letter by Friday, November
19th. If your request comes in after the deadline, your counselor and teacher will not be able to write you a
comprehensive letter of recommendation. MEET YOUR DEADLINES FOR THIS VERY IMPORTANT
TASK.

Seniors: October Scholarship opportunities will be posted on the high school website and Family
Connection/Naviance on the 1st of every month beginning October 1st. A limited number of paper copies will
be available in House C.

Seniors: Emory Scholars Program: If you are applying to Emory University and would like to
be nominated for the Emory Scholars Program, please see your counselor no later than
November 1st. There is a November 15th deadline to submit the nomination.

We encourage you to attend college conferences but you MUST have your teachers’ prior permission.
Check the bulletin; watch the calendars in the main hall, look at visits on Naviance and PLAN AHEAD.
 Pick up a permission slip from any of the houses, get your teachers approval and bring the College
             Conference Form with you to the meeting. Your attendance will be verified.
