1 . VISION APPRENTICES
Vision Apprentices is the largest Apprenticeship Training Association in the country, working with numerous local and national

timetables; who are positive and helpful towards our customers and who can handle cash accurately. This is a demanding job
delivering an essential service – if you have the ability to do it we can provide the training.

We currently have vacancies for full time drivers. If you enjoy meeting people, are safety conscious, and have a clean drivers
licence held for more than 2 years (no more than 6 points), this could be your dream job.
Prospective Applicants will need to attend a pre-interview and conduct initial assessments in Maths and English from w/c 24
Sept 2012 onwards. Successful candidates will then move on to Driver Assessments and a Medical on selected dates from w/c 1
Oct 2012. Further dates may be available dependent upon the amount of applications received.
3. THE APPOINTMENT
Your Bus are seeking two hardworking, sociable and motivated individuals, to take part in their apprenticeship programme that
is based around customer services within the services sector. A first class attitude and work ethic are key in this role as well as
being flexible, adaptable, and being able to work with minimal supervision. The successful candidates will be supported to
undertake a recognised driver qualification. Previous Customer Services experience will be essential for the successful applicant

The successful candidates will work a flexible shift pattern / working week driving passenger carrier vehicles on selected
routes. You will be working directly with customers providing both counter service and general assistance.
The successful candidate will be hardworking, honest and have excellent customer services skills with communication
skills second to none. Gaining exceptional experience as well as working with cash payments, the individual will get a
good grounding within driving in the public services sector.

Vision Apprentices has strong links with the industry sector and following on from successful completion of this apprenticeship
there maybe the opportunity for progression onto an advanced/higher apprenticeship.
4. THE POST
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Putting customers first is our priority and to deliver the high quality service our passengers expect we need to recruit
people who are capable of driving safely and in accordance with our published timetables; who are positive and helpful
towards our customers and who can handle cash accurately.
This is a demanding job delivering an essential service – if you have the ability to do it we can provide the training.
Carry out duties allocated by Fleet manager
Providing excellent counter service to all customers
Maintain allocated vehicles and provide a welcoming atmosphere to all cliental
Dealing with payments
Giving every customer a positive impression and meeting high standards
Ensure that work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times and that the vehicle is handled in a safe manner.
Carry out any other reasonable request made by management to the best of their ability.
Acknowledge guests with a greeting at every opportunity
Report any thefts, breakages and damage of property or equipment or hazards to management.
Ensure security of company stocks, property and premises
To undertake training and development as required.
To work in conjunction with the team including maintaining cover during absences.
Any other duties appropriate to the grade of the post that may be reasonably required by the appropriate manager.
To attend college and complete course work on time and to a high standard.
To conduct yourself in a safe and diligent manner and comply with health and safety policies and procedures.

6 . TERMS AND CONDITI ONS
This is a weekly paid post and you are required to work a week in hand.
You may be required to work on a flexible basis.
You may be required to attend day release in Mansfield on a weekly basis.
You will be entitled to receive statutory minimum annual leave.
You are responsible for funding your own travel to and from your place of work and will be expected to travel as

8 . TRAINING PROVIDED
This apprenticeship allows you to study towards a recognised qualification whilst in an employed position, as part of your
apprenticeship the programme will consists of:
Job-specific s training through working alongside experienced staff
A National Vocational Qualification (NVQ Level 2 and/or 3) focusing on:
o The standards required for your specific occupation
o The competencies required to carry out the job
o A breakdown of the contents of the jobs within your specific occupation into tasks called units of competences
o The performance criteria required to do jobs and tasks completed through witness testimony, tests and
A Technical Certificate focusing on:
o The theoretical knowledge required in an occupation
o Underpinning knowledge of the NVQ
Functional Skills (Literacy, Numeracy and IT)
o Dependent on your prior attainment you may need to be assessed in a literacy, numeracy and ICT skills which are
an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successfully completion you will be awarded additional certificates

9 . OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
From the 1st October 2011, the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices aged 16-18, and those aged over 19 who are in
the first year of their Apprenticeship, is set at £2.60 per hour.
The NMW applies to time working and time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the
age categories above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age.
