Boy Scout Programs                                                                                  2009-10

Bear Scouts
Bear Scouts can earn Arrow Points for the Space Elective Badge*. In this four-hour session,
Scouts will build a model rocket, discover Earth’s satellites, compare planets in our Solar
System and participate in other engaging hands-on activities.
Cost: $23/Scout
Dates: November 14, 2009
       April 24, 2010
Time: 1-5 p.m.
*All requirements will be met except a visit to a planetarium.

Complete the Scientist Activity Badge in this four-hour program. Webelos will build a rocket,
perform magic tricks, do experiments, and more--all of which will help Scouts understand
several physics concepts, such as Bernoulli’s principle and Newton’s laws of motion.
Cost: $23/Scout
Dates: November 14, 2009
       April 24, 2010
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Boy Scouts
Earn the Space Exploration Merit Badge in this five-and-a-half-hour program. Boy Scouts
will build, launch and recover model rockets, learn how space shuttles and rockets work,
discover what elements a space station must have to be successful, and then design their
own orbiting space station.
Cost: $27/Scout
Dates: January 30, 2010
       May 15, 2010
Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Private workshops can be scheduled based on availability. Call for dates and prices.
All Scout programs can accommodate up to 25 participants.
