                       Them’s Fightin’ Words: Jefferson’s Rhetorical Attacks

        Back in the day, when Jefferson decided he didn’t want to be part of the British party

anymore, he wrote down a little note. That note has come to be known as the Declaration of

Independence.

        By deciding not to swear in the document, Jefferson creates a speakerly persona that has

the ability to attain credibility.
