Get Captivated By the Hills of the Darjeeling
Nested between the Himalayas and smaller hills, Darjeeling is a paradise
situated far from the heart of the country. The land is filled with natural
features and rarely will you find any artificial landmarks here. Darjeeling
rises slowly from the plains of Siliguri with its meandering roads that are cut
along the slopes. As you make your way up the hill the scenes that you see
will give you an idea that something very much fantastic is waiting for you
on top of these hills. Thanks to the well experienced drivers that reach the
crowds up these hills very safely inspite of the foggy weather at times
maybe without them Darjeeling would have lost its lions share of
employment that which is its tourism. The hardworking people of the hills
have engaged themselves in one or the other way with the tourism. The
Darjeeling town is crowned with the majestic Kanchanjunga and flanked by
other smaller snow capped peaks. The place becomes renewed every
spring when each plant, be it a grass or a tree starts to blossom to an extent
to be called the “queen of the hills”.
The rhododendrons in full bloom and the peace pagoda in the scene behind
it and the soaring pine trees; it’s sure you can’t hold on long without hitting
that click button. The white symbol of peace stands tall away from the
hustle bustle of the town in a calm environment depicting the life of Lord
Buddha through sculptures round the stupa. The Japanese temple is also
just beside it where the monks offer their prayers and drums are also
available for those who want to join the prayer. Total peace of mind is what
the outcome of your visit will be here.
The Himalayan zoological garden is a place where you can find the different
species of animals kept for the amusement of the tourists. The wild animals
kept here are the Himalayan bear, the barking deer, and the Sunderban
tiger etc. the zoo also has some good variety of birds for your watching. The
Himalayan Mountaineering institute is within the zoo premises that
prepare the enthusiastic persons who want some real adventures on the
sloping terrains. The HMI (Himalayan Mountaineering Institute) also has a
museum that preserves the history of the climbers. The stay is still
incomplete without the visit to the sunrise point at tiger hill where the sun
comes out of the far horizon painting the atmosphere with the red. The
Batasia loop is also nearby where a war memorial is constructed. Here the
train loops down a small hill to descend down its height by circling around
the hill as it climbs down. As you end your thrilling journey in the Darjeeling
hills your mind should be thinking about Sikkim tour packages.
Sikkim is another state but not very different from its sister, Darjeeling. As
one travels from Darjeeling to Sikkim nothing much changes. The landscape
is the dame the faces are still similar and the language the very same just a
minor difference is that the state is inhabited by a majority of the Bhutias.
The list of the travel destination gets lengthened as one land in Gangtok.
Gangtok is the launching ground of any activity that one plans in Sikkim.
The “Nathula trip”, “the Changu Lake”, “the Banjhakri falls” and much more
is there to include in your Gangtok tours.
So if you want so much in so limited area the hills of Darjeeling and Sikkim
