The orientation is held in collaboration with the California Comprehensive Center (CA CC) using their Webinar technology. The objectives of this SES Provider Orientation: • • • What does SES mean? What are the responsibilities of CDE, LEAs, and SES Providers? What kind of data must be kept and which reports must be filed? What are the latest developments in SES? Your pre-registration is needed to identify the number of participants to be involved in the Webinar. CDE will take questions and feedback during this Webinar in order to support you in successfully implementing your SES. How the Webinar Works The Webinar is a combined slideshow and audio presentation, which requires that you have access to an Internet connection, computer with soundcard and speakers or headphones, and a Web browser. During the Wimba Classroom session, you will see slides displayed and hear the presenters through your computer. SES providers will enter questions during the Webinar via online polls and on the “chat line.” Pre-Webinar Advice (How to Test Your Access to the Webinar) * To participate in the Webinar, it is IMPORTANT that you:   Are able to be on the Internet the day of the event; Have run the Wizard at least a day PRIOR to the start of the event; and  Login to test access to the live Webinar site. *Note: If you have special access needs (e.g., you have a hearing impairment and need alternative access for the audio), please let us know as soon as possible so we can make the appropriate arrangements. Before the Webinar 1. It is vital that you test your computer and browser for readiness prior to the online Webinar. To do this, run the Wizard on the WestEd Web site on the Wimba classroom login Web page at http://wested2.wimba.com/Wizard/launcher.cgi?wc=wms (Outside Source). Note: Wimba Classroom provides a chat feature and some schools, districts, and county offices of education use firewalls that block chat. If this is true for you, check with your Information Technology (IT) department. Another common problem some participants encounter is a Web browser with its pop-up blocker turned on. 2. After you have successfully run the Wizard, follow directions a. through d. below. If you have problems with the login, please contact your IT department and ask them to open the port to this secure site. a. If you have run the Wizard, go to the WestEd Web site on the Wimba SES classroom Web page at http://wested2.wimba.com/launcher.cgi?room=ses (Outside Source). b. Use the PARTICIPANT login that reads, “If you were NOT provided a password for this presentation, please enter your name here:” c. Type your name ONLY and, please note, NO password is used; hit enter. d. You will then be placed in the room where it reads, “Welcome to 'California's Supplemental Educational Services'." The Day of the Live Webinar (How to Access the Webinar) 1. Please logon 15 minutes in advance of the session start time. 2. If you have run the Wizard, go to the event space on the WestEd Web site at the Wimba classroom Web page at http://wested2.wimba.com/launcher.cgi?room=ses (Outside Source). 3. Use the PARTICIPANT login that reads, “If you were NOT provided a password for this presentation, please enter your name here.” 4.
