Noy Khounviseth
Ey swayel!
My name is Noy Khounviseth. I was born in Laos, a small country in Southeast Asia. Family and food are important in our culture just as I have found it to be important in all the First Nations communities I have had the honour to work in. I graduated from the University of Alberta in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition/Food Sciences. For the past seven years I have been working to promote healthy eating, active living and diabetes awareness in First Nation communities in the Lower Mainland and Caribou Region. My passion is to encourage people to make healthy lifestyle choices one step at a time. The reason I enjoy my work so much is because all of the First Nation communities I have worked with have been able to blend traditional foods with modern ideas of healthy eating habits and practices.
