NEW DISTRICT LINES
Effective October 6, 2011, the area that has heretofore been called “Natomas” for purposes of
City Council representation is now spilt into two different districts. While River City Commons,
along with the rest of So. Natomas, has previously been represented by the District 1
Councilperson (most recently Angelique Ashby), we will now be in District 3 with a new City
Councilperson, Steve Cohn. District 3 now spreads south across the American River to
encompass the area of the Downtown Railyard and east to the Cal Expo area and down to
Folsom Blvd., taking in Sacramento State University. The area along the Garden Highway is
now moved into District 4.
As long time residents of So. Natomas, we believe that our community must not be allowed to
get lost in the city redistricting shuffle and the competing needs of the added complexities within
the new district lines. We need to make our voices heard on issues that affect our daily lives.
Contact has been made on behalf of RCCA to our new councilperson’s office and we have been
assured that a representative will be on hand at an upcoming meeting to hear from us.
Councilman Cohn’s contact information is (916) 808-7003 or email@example.com.
