Postgrad Computer Lab room 30lg09, 30 University Square
Access to the lab is for Law taught postgrad students ONLY. Keypad codes for the door at the side of 30 University Square are
available from Margaret Howell, room 29g01. Students found giving their keypad number to non law students or otherwise
helping them to gain access to the premises will have their 24 hour access withdrawn. To get to the lab go down the stairs outside
the general office 28G01. Turn right at foot of the stairs. Take first left. Then second right. Then first left. The lab is facing you at
the end of this corridor, room 30LG09.
Printing is via the QUB print credit system. Credits are purchased through a credit card or Student Smart Card, but are cheapest
via a credit card. Prices range from 3.3p per page to 5p per page depending on the number of credits purchased. See for full details

The School of Law purchases an annual quota of 500 print credits per postgraduate student. These will be applied to your account
by the end of October can be used in any of the QUB computer labs including the School of Law lab. You will be informed by
email when the credits have been applied to your printing account.
Social area and lab in International and Postgraduate Student Centre
The top floor of the International and postgraduate student centre (opposite the main McClay library) has 50 PCs and a pleasant
social area which postgraduate students are encouraged to use.
1. Log in using the Novell user name and password assigned to you at registration
Private file space on H:
Each student has 200MB file space on H: drive. It is accessible whatever PC you use in the lab. Do not store your files on hard
disk of the lab PCs ie the c:\ drive. Instead save your files to the H drive. Do not keep all work on a single floppy disk or USB
stick. Always have 2nd copy ie backup of important files.
View the files on your H drive
- In the lab select Start/My Computer / Network drives).
- To access your H drive files from home use the My Files facility in Queen’s on-Line at https://learn.qol.qub.ac.uk/home/
You were given an email address, username and password in your Confirmation of Enrolment / Registration letter. For both on
and off campus access to your email account use the OWA facility at https://owa.qub.ac.uk Please check your QUB email
account regularly as staff use it to communicate with you.
Queen's Online is a web based facility that will be used by lecturers to deliver teaching resources such as lecture notes, reading
lists etc throughout the year.
2. Access Queen's online at home or on campus by going to the web address www.qnet.qub.ac.uk (or clicking the QOL icon on
the lab desktop)
3. Enter ads\your student number as username, get it from your student card, or top left hand corner of your letter of enrolment.
The QOL password is the same as your logon password
4. Look in the My Modules / Resources section for teaching materials. (Full details how to use QOL are in the Introduction to
Computing Facilities booklet available from the New library.)
Inappropriate use of the Internet
Students should be aware that all websites visited leave traces on the PCs. Students identified by the logs as having visited
innapropriate websites will be reported immediately to the Head of School.

Eat or drink at the PCs
View inappropriate websites
Alter the default settings of the PCs
Download or install any programs
Move the Pcs
Unplug any part of the PCs
Leave rubbish on the desks, please use recycling trays and bins provided
