Post Doctoral Fellow – Metabolic Disease Research
J & J PRD, San Diego, discovers and develops treatments that improve the
health and lifestyles of people worldwide. Research and development is focused
on novel targets for immune mediated inflammatory disorders (IMID), CNS and
Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases.
We are currently seeking a post-doctoral candidate to participate in research
focused on metabolic diseases that include understanding the role of islet cell
function, regeneration, and cellular signaling in type I or II diabetes. The
successful candidate should have requisite fundamental pharmacologic/
cellular/molecular skills and be familiar with pre-clinical disease models of obesity
In this position, the individual will be an active participant in a dynamic drug
discovery environment and will receive guidance from internationally recognized
experts in the field. The successful candidate will also be encouraged to present
their data both internally and externally and will have the opportunity to publish
their findings. The candidate will be expected to participate in the planning and
execution of in/ex- vivo studies including analysis and interpretation of results
from a PK/PD perspective.
Ph.D. with research experience in pharmacology/physiology and islet cell
function. Experience in seven transmembrane G-protein coupled receptor
excitation-secretion coupling in islets is favorable. Ideally, the successful
candidate will have previous in-vivo experience with metabolic disease models.
The candidate must be self-motivated, productive, and team-oriented, with
proven scientific problem-solving skills. The candidate must also have excellent
computer, verbal and written communication skills.
