Position: Elected for 2 (two) year terms. (Two Directors elected on alternating
Time Commitment: Minimum of 1-2 hours a month (time commitment variable dependent on
Special projects or duties assigned); plus travel (board meetings, etc.).
I. Serves as a voting member of the Board of Directors. Required to attend APIC-VA Board
meetings and annual membership meeting.
II. Submit budget request to treasurer in November for the following year.
III. Prepare and submit an annual report for distribution at the annual membership meeting.
IV. First year term Director is responsible for special projects as assigned by the President.
V. Second year term Director is responsible for overseeing the publication of the newsletter.
The newsletter editor reports to this Director position.
VI. Serve as parliamentarians at Board Meetings.
VII. Identify and develop methods to increase awareness of infection control among other
professional organizations and health care organizations.
VIII. Work with other APIC committees on enhancing productive relationships with
governmental, regulatory, and allied health care organizations.
IX. Advise APIC-VA membership of available information from National for Infection Control
X. Request proclamation from the Governor for Infection Control Week and distribute to
XI. Identify methods of bringing National Infection Control Week to the attention of the
XII. Identify/Submit articles for newspaper or other publications on Infection Control issues.
XIII. Organize coverage for the APIC-Virginia State Educational Conference: advertise in the
APIC News newspaper coverage.
