                             Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region

Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region (LC-NCR) is an affiliate non-profit of the Living
Classrooms Foundation located in Baltimore, Maryland. LC-NCR is responsible for the operation of
educational and workforce development programs in the D.C. Metropolitan area, as well as the operations of
Discovery Creek Children’s Museum. LC-NCR is operated for the benefit of the community at-large,
providing hands-on education and job training programs for students from diverse backgrounds, with a
special emphasis on at-risk youth.

Utilizing challenging settings, community revitalization and a small staff to student ration, LC-NCR provides
experience-based educational programs emphasizing the applied learning of math, science, language arts,
history, economics and ecology. Key objectives of all Living Classrooms programs are career development,
cooperative learning, elevating self-esteem and fostering multicultural exchange.

The Foundation's history and future focus on hands-on experiential education programs that motivate
student "learning by doing". The primary responsibility of the Sales and Marketing Coordinator is to market,
schedule, and promote the educational activities of LC-NCR. In addition, there are other tasks that are
important for upholding the integrity of the education department in meeting its objectives. LC-NCR has the
goal of offering hands-on experience based education programs that are of the highest quality and excellence.

The Sales and Marketing Coordinator works under the direction of the Director of Education and
coordinates efforts with LC-NCR’s education staff. High energy, dedication, enthusiasm, flexibility, creativity,
organization and an ability to create a vision for the future are required to lead these programs. The ideal
candidate will have a passion for education and the students and families we serve. The candidate will have
experience and/or an interest in marketing to a wide client base including schools, families, organizations, and

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

       Schedule shipboard programs, school-based programs, site-based programs, family programs and
        birthday parties.
       Understand and utilize Social Media platforms and listservs to promote programs.
       Update web properties and manage social media content including Facebook and Twitter accounts.
       Attend school fairs and educational and environment exhibits to engage potential clients.
       Outreach to local public and independent schools in the Maryland, Virginia, and DC.
       Aggressively market LC-NCR programs, and explore new outlets and methods for this marketing.
       Meet scheduling/booking goals as defined by Director of Operations and the Director of Education.
       Encourage and demonstrate the type of professional and courteous work environment that is
       Investigate new program opportunities for LC-NCR.
       Work cohesively as a team with the Executive Director, Director of Operations, Chief of Staff,
        Director of Education, the educational staff of LC-NCR, and most importantly all of our clients.
      Coordinate with Director of Education and other Directors to ensure that all grant required programs
       have been scheduled.
      Responsible to keep all promotional and sales documents up to date and accurate.
      Coordinate with the Chief of Staff & all staff to keep the website images and data up to date and
      Ensure that all necessary information has been inputted into tracking database systems.
      Work with Program Directors to develop methods for establishing a strong, continual client base.
      Attend regular Director’s Meetings, as well as necessary staff meetings.
      Maintain professionalism at all times as an important representative of the LC-NCR & Living
       Classrooms Foundation.
      Such other duties as are necessary for the operation of the programs or the Foundation or as assigned
       by the Director of Educational Enrichment of Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region

Additional Duties:
    Maintain, at all times, the integrity and quality of the Discovery Creek, LC-NCR & LCF’s experiential
       education programs.
    Must be detailed orientated and organized.
    Assist in funding raising, granting writings, and reporting
    Participate and assist in organizational special events.
    Uphold any agreements made by Discovery Creek, LC-NCR, LCF and partners.
    All other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of the Living Classrooms of the National
       Capital Region.

The right candidate will:
    Be able to input data for reporting purposes and support the Education Team in collection and
       reporting of important information.
    Work collectively with the LC-NCR team and Living Classrooms Foundation; including its partners
       regionally and nationally.
    Must be able to multitask and communicate effectively on support needed.
    Be self-motivated, show good work ethic and perseverance, and an ability to set and achieve goals.
    Encourage and model the type of professional and courteous work environment that is expected.
