The WRITE program fits well with our educational philosophy, and we have been
looking for ways to implement such a program.

We understand that this WRITE evaluation study uses an experimental design and
our middle schools will be randomly assigned as either treatments or controls. We
support their participation, whichever way they are assigned. We further
understand that training, implementation and data gathering will begin during
Summer 2012 and will continue for up to 3 years. We appreciate that the grant will
pay for the teacher training and all materials, including substitutes and travel as
needed, and that schools in the control group will also be offered two years of
WRITE training and materials beginning in SY 2014/15.

We also understand that a representative of the district must attend one
informational webinar (approximately 60 minutes) about the study in order to
participate. A district representative attended/will attend the webinar on DATE.

We are pleased to provide this data and look forward to working with WestEd, the
University of California, Davis, and the WRITE Institute of the San Diego County
Office of Education on this project.

Sincerely,

Superintendent, Asst. Superintendent, or Program Director

This letter is to confirm the participation of XXXX School in the WRITE evaluation
study. The WRITE program fits well with our educational philosophy, and we have
been looking for ways to implement such a program.

We currently have classes that are eligible to participate in the study. For the next
school year (2012/13), we anticipate the following classes, teachers, and students
will be eligible to participate in the study:

Class Name Grade Teacher # of ELL

# of ELL students = the approximate number of ELL students in each class at ELP
(CELDT) levels 3, 4, or 5

Here is the contact information for the above teachers and the school principal:
